Week 3 is here, and we are ready to win some bets! Last Sunday was our worst performance ever so we are going to make this Sunday our best. We are already 1-0 on the week with James Cook cashing our Thursday Best Bet in the first half. I have gone through todays slate and provided 4 Best Bets for today. I had Jamie pick the winner of the Texans- Jaguars game, as that the closest to a toss-up that we have today. Let’s make some money!
First things first, the Best Bets:
Best Bets
- Bijan Robinson Rush Yards over 81.5
- Matthew Stafford Pass Yards over 228.5
- Cowboys -1.5
- Wan’Dale Robinson Receiving Yards over 45.5
Best Bet Background- Bijan Robinson Rush Yards over 81.5
Bijan Robinson looks to be coming into his own ads one of the best backs in the league. He has been a weapon for this Falcons offense in both the run and pass game. In Week 1 against the Buccaneers, he had 124 total scrimmage yards. Last week, he had a huge game on the ground by going for 143 yards against the Vikings in a blowout win. Today, he faces the Carolina Panthers who have had one of the worst run defenses in the league going back to last year. This logic burned us last week when we bet on James Conner to run for an over against this defense. However, James Conner is not on the same level as Bijan. Bijan has had success against the Panthers historically. The last 2 games that he faced them; he ran all over them. His most recent game was in January of this year, when he ran the ball 28 times for 170 yards. The one point of concern would be the return of Derrick Brown to the Panthers defensive line. He returned last week and blew up the Cardinals run attack. Once again, this Falcons offense is a different beast than the Cardinals and will not abandon the run like the Cards did. Look for Bijan to add another big game against the Panters today.
Best Bet Background – Matthew Stafford Pass Yards over 228.5
Matthew Stafford is off to a hot start despite missing all of training camp this year. He is already averaging 271 yards a game in this young season. The Rams have such a balanced offense but still rely heavily on the production of this receiving corps that is led by Puka Nacua and Davantae Adams. Today, they face the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of last year’s Divisional Round game, where the Eagles won 28-22. In that game, Stafford threw for 324 yards as the Rams feel just short of advancing. The Rams also played against the Eagles earlier in the year where Stafford threw for 243 yards. The Eagles have major issues in the secondary. It was shown in Week 1 against the Cowboys. They faced a Chiefs team last week that is struggling to pass the game and does not have a WR1 right now. The Rams have a much better offense and should be able to pick on the weakness of this defense. The long and the short of this pick is that 228 is just too low for Matthew Stafford. He has a career average of 269 yards per game. Last year, which was his worst average, he averaged 235 yards per game.
Best Bet Background – Cowboys -1.5
The 1-1 Cowboys are traveling to Chicago to take on the 0-2 Bears. Both of these teams have rookie head coaches trying to figure their way through managing an NFL season. The Cowboys got Brian Schottenheimer his first win last week in a thrilling shootout against the Giants. Meanwhile, the Bears and Ben Johnson are still searching for their first win. I believe that they are going to still be looking for that first win after today. So far, quarterback Caleb Williams has not looked good. The Bear’s defense has struggled to stop anyone. They made J.J McCarthy look great in Week 1 and were just flattened by the Lions last week. The Lions game showed that this team is not built to keep up in a shootout. We are looking at a potential shootout today with a high-powered Dallas offense and a Dallas defense that can let up a lot of points. If the Cowboys’ offense does falter, they have the best kicker in the game, so they are capable of getting points on the board as long as they pass midfield. The Bears cannot keep up with that. Look for a lot of points in this game with the Cowboys ultimately winning.
Best Bet Background – Wan’Dale Robinson Receiving Yards over 45.5
Russell Wilson ignited the Giants passing game last week against the Cowboys. After years of Daniel Jones not being able to throw the ball deep down the field, Giants fans (myself included) were blown away by the moon ball last week. One of the main beneficiaries of the addition of Russ to this offense has been Wan’Dale Robinson. Robinson has historically been a short yardage receiver but showed his ability for the deep ball last week. He had 8 catches for 142 yards and 1 TD. The touchdown came on a 50 yards deep ball in the 4th quarter. In Week 1, he had 6 receptions for 55 yards. While Malik Nabers is the clear number 1 for this team, Russ has shown that he loves to throw to Robinson. As the Giants take on the Chiefs tonight, I expect the Giants to be playing from behind as the Chiefs are in a must win situation. That would point to the Giants having to pass the ball quite a bit. A lot of attention will be focused on Malik Nabers so I would expect Wan’Dale to be heavily involved throughout the game.
Jamie’s Pick of The Week
Jamie is on a hot streak so far this year. He is 2-0 in his picks. Today, he will be picking the winner of the Texans – Jaguars game. 58% of the public bets are being placed on the Jags. Let’s see if Jamie can keep his streak going!
