Week 4 is here, and we are already on the road to recovery after a tough Week 2 and Week 3. We are already 1-0 on the week after a thriller on Thursday night when Seattle covered -1.5. The NFL gets an early start today with a game in Dublin between the Steelers and Vikings. I have gone through todays slate and provided 5 Best Bets for today. I had Jamie pick the winner of the Bears- Raiders game, as that the closest to a toss-up that we have today. Let’s make some money!
First things first, the Best Bets:
Best Bets
- TJ Watt to Record a Sack
- Kyle Pitts Receiving Yards over 38.5
- Quentin Johnston Receiving Yards over 51.5
- Tyler Warren Receiving Yards over 52.5
- Packers – 6.5
Best Bet Background- TJ Watt to Record a Sack
The Vikings and Steelers get today’s slate started off early in Dublin Ireland. The first game kicks off at 9:30 ET. The Vikings are favored by 2.5 points and are starting Carson Wentz at quarterback for the second week. He is coming off of a solid first start against the Bengals but it was difficult to get a good read of Wentz’s performance because the Minnesota defense created several turnovers and a pair of scores. In his stat line, you will see that Wentz was sacked 3 time. The Vikings overall have allowed 12 sacks on the season and are currently let up the highest percentage of sacks allowed in the NFL. Today, they face a premiere pass rusher in TJ Watt. Watt recorded his first and second sack of the season last week. He will undoubtedly be in the Minnesota backfield blowing up plays. Carson Wentz has a history of getting skittish and running into sacks, so this presents the perfect opportunity for Watt to add to his sack total on the season.
Best Bet Background – Kyle Pitts Receiving Yards over 38.5
The Falcons will be hosting the Washington Commanders in Atlanta. The Falcons are coming off of an embarrassing 30-0 loss to the Panthers last week. Michael Penix had a bad game. He was constantly late to his throws and that resulted in missed connections and interceptions. Despite the poor play, Kyle Pitts was still able to gain more than his line today. He recorded 39 yards on 4 catches. So far this season, he has shown to be one of Penix’s favorite targets. He is second on the team in targets and receptions. He faces a Washington defense that has been allowing 229 pass yards per game, which is 23rd in the NFL. I would expect the Falcons to have a bounce back game in which Pitts is featured heavily.
Best Bet Background – Quentin Johnston Receiving Yards over 51.5
The Chargers are traveling to New Jersey to take on the New York Giants. The Chargers are currently in the driver’s seat to be the best team in the NFL while the Giants are currently at the bottom of the barrel. The Giants are turning to their rookie quarterback, Jaxson Dart, which points to a new era for the franchise. The Giants have been struggling on both sides of the ball. Despite having one of the most talented groups of pass rushers in the league, the Giants are 28th in pass yards allowed. Meanwhile, the Chargers are the 2nd best passing attack in the league. One player that has been a major (and surprising) contributor has been Quinten Johnston. Johnston had struggled last year with drops and inconsistent play. This year, he has gone over 70 yards in all 3 games played. He gets an incredibly favorable matchup today against a weak Giants secondary. Look for him to have another productive afternoon.
Best Bet Background – Tyler Warren Receiving Yards over 52.5
In the 4 PM slot, the best game on paper looks to be the Colts-Rams matchup. The Rams are coming off of a heartbreaking loss to the Eagles and sit at 2-1. Meanwhile, the Colts are on a historically good start. They are 3-0 and are being led by another former Giants having a career year after leaving New York. Daniel Jones is having the best start to a season in Colts quarterback history since Peyton Manning. The Colts’ offense is littered with weapons that Jones is able to lean on throughout a game. One of his favorites has been rookie tight end Tyler Warren. Warren is tied with Michael Pittman for the lead in receiving yards with 193. Warren actually leads the team in targets with 21. It is apparent that the Colts like to use their young tight end. They face a tough Rams defense but should still be able to move the ball. The Rams have yet to face a pass attack like the Colts. They showed last week to be vulnerable to the pass when the Eagles decided to actually throw the ball. An interesting thing to keep an eye on will be the starting field position for the Colts. The Rams have seemingly figured out the squib kick and forces their opponents to have the worst starting position in the league. That means that the Colts will have to go much further on the field if they want to score. Warren had over 70 yards in the first two games of the year. I would look for Warren to gain over 53 yards again.
Best Bet Background – Packers – 6.5
The primetime game tonight will be a Micah Parsons homecoming. The Packers are traveling to Dallas to take on the Cowboys. The Packers were embarrassed in an upset loss to the Browns last week. I believe that it was a trap game and the Cleveland defense turned out to be much better than people thought. The Packers have the perfect opportunity for a get right game going against one of the worst defenses in the league. Dallas has been getting scorched by the likes of Russ Wilson and Caleb Williams. They face a different beast in Jordan Love tonight who should be able to pick this leaky secondary apart. On offense the Cowboys are missing their top receiver with CeeDee Lamb missing time due to injury. The Cowboys are also injured on both of the offensive and defensive lines. This game should not be close in the final score. I would expect the Packers to run away with the game.
Jamie’s Pick of The Week
Jamie is on a hot streak so far this year. He is 3-0 in his picks. Today, he will be picking the winner of the Bears- Raiders game. 59% of the public bets are being placed on the Bears. Let’s see if Jamie can keep his streak going!
