It’s Week 8 in the NFL and with it comes National Tight Ends Day. Last year was an incredibly profitable tight ends day for Black Dog Bets. We won a +1976 parlay, and we have cooked up another one for today to celebrate the holiday. I have gone through the rest of the Sunday slate and put together 4 Best Bets for today. I also had Jamie pick the winner of the Broncos- Cowboys game, as that the closest to a toss-up that we have today. Let’s make some money!
First things first, the Best Bets:
Best Bets
- Cam Skattebo Rush + Receiving Yards over 77.5
- Josh Allen Rush Yards over 30.5
- Tyler Warren Receiving Yards over 55.5
- Aaron Rodgers Pass Yards over 219.5
Best Bet Background- Cam Skattebo Rush + Receiving Yards over 77.5
Cam Skattebo has become an overnight celebrity in New York due to his running style. He runs with no regard for his or the defender’s health. That mentality, as well as a Tyrone Tracy Jr. injury, as earned him the bulk of the carries for the New York Giants. Today, he faces the Eagles who have had several key injuries on defense. These teams faced off against one another two weeks ago and Skattebo had 98 rush yards and 12 receiving yards. The main difference in today’s matchup will be the return of Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter. Carter will be solidifying the middle of the defensive line. However, Skattebo’s tough running style has been able to overcome several good defensive fronts. He is also used effectively in the screen game for the Giants. He has gained over 77 scrimmage yards in each of his last 5 games for the Giants. He should continue his success today against a banged-up Eagles defense.
Best Bet Background – Josh Allen Rush Yards over 30.5
The Bills are coming off of their bye week to face the Carolina Panthers. The Bills have lost 2 straight games and face a Carolina team today that may not be the easy out that everyone expects them to be. The Panthers are 4-3 and have emerged as a tough defensive team that can run the ball very effectively. The Bills are currently one of the worst teams against the run so the Panthers may be able to stay in this game all day. They also are a top 10 team against the pass, and the Bills are struggling to move the ball without a clear number 1 receiver. That means that Josh Allen has to play the Superman role in this offense. He has always been able to use his legs as a weapon and this season has been no exception. He has gone over his line for today in 4/6 games this year and has done so in the last 3 games. I would expect him to tuck and run a few times today as his receivers may struggle to get open.
Best Bet Background – Tyler Warren Receiving Yards over 55.5
I couldn’t advise a bunch of best bets on national tight ends day without locking at least one tight end in the mix. Tyler Warren has been a sensational rookie tight end for the Colts. He has been averaging 4.7 receptions and 62.7 yards per game this year. He is the Colts leading receiver and clearly has the trust of his quarterback Daniel Jones. He has gone over this line in 5 of 7 games this year. He faces the ailing Titans today in an AFC South showdown that could get out of hand quickly. The Colts have already faced the Titans once this year and blew them out 41-20. Today, Warren should continue to be in the mix and be able to gain 56 yards against the Titans.
Best Bet Background – Aaron Rodgers Pass Yards over 219.5
Aaron Rodgers has another “revenge” game tonight in primetime. He and the Pittsburgh Steelers are facing the Green Bay Packers at Acrisure field. Rodgers has been downplaying the revenge game angle, but Rodgers is also known to hold a grudge as good as he can sling the pill. He has gone over this line in 50% of the games that he has played this year but has done so in the past 2 games. The Green Bay defense has been good against the run but has been known to let up some yards through the air. Considering that this game could be a shoutout, I would expect the Steelers to rely on Rodgers’ arm to keep them in the game.
National Tight Ends Day Parlay (+3871)
- Noah Fant TD
- Jake Ferguson TD
- George Kittle 40+ Rec Yards
- Cade Otton 25+ Rec Yards
- Tucker Kraft TD
Jamie’s Pick of The Week
Jamie’s hot streak came to an end last week with his first loss. He is 6-1 in his picks. Today, he will be picking the winner of the Cowboys- Broncos game. 58% of the public bets are being placed on the Broncos. Let’s see if Jamie can get back to his winning ways!
