It’s Week 9 in the NFL. We got off to a good start with our Best Bets after we cashed on Thursday. We are going to keep things going and start stacking wins with today’s games. I have gone through the rest of the Sunday slate and put together 4 Best Bets for today. I also had Jamie pick the winner of the Bills – Chiefs game, as that the closest to a toss-up that we have today. Let’s make some money!
First things first, the Best Bets:
Best Bets
- Alec Pierce Receiving Yards over 45.5
- Kimani Vidal Rushing Yards over 74.5
- Patrick Mahomes Rush Yards over 28.5
- A.J Barner Receiving Yards over 27.5
Best Bet Background- Alec Pierce Receiving Yards over 45.5
Alec Pierce is quietly having a solid year for the Colts. He is averaging 3 receptions per game and 56.3 yards per game. He has been the deep ball threat for this Colts offense and has earned the trust of his quarterback Daniel Jones. Pierce has a 21.4 yard per reception rate. He will not be heavily involved but will take advantage of his targets with big chunk plays. He has a great opportunity to continue his productive season against the Steelers today. The Steelers are the league’s worst pass defense. They are allowing 273 pass yards per game. Their expensive pass rush has not been producing, and they face one of the league’s best offensive lines. If the Colts continue to dominate up front, Daniel Jones should have plenty of time to target Pierce down the field.
Best Bet Background – Kimani Vidal Rushing Yards over 74.5
The Chargers will be travelling to Nashville to take on the Titans. The Chargers come into this game as a heavy favorite. They are favored by 9.5 points against a Titans team that is seemingly falling apart. They are entering their third game under interim head coach; Mike McCoy and they have yet to get that interim coach bump. I do not expect them to turn it around against the Chargers today. The Titans have one of the worst offenses in the league and it allows them to fall behind quickly to teams. This falls right into the identity of the Chargers. They are built to run the ball and have found a gem in Kimani Vidal to run. Vidal has gotten 3 starts and has gone over 75 yards in 2 of 3 games. Last week, he ran the ball 23 times for 117 yards and 1 TD. The Chargers got Joe Alt back at left tackle last week and set out to run the ball. They received very little resistance and that will most likely continue today against the Titans. The Titans are the 26th ranked rush defense in the league, allowing 142 yards per game on average. If the Chargers play with the lead, they should be able to run the clock. With Alt back in the lineup, the game script going their way, and the Titans defense inability to stop the run, Vidal is being set up for a big day.
Best Bet Background – Patrick Mahomes Rush Yards over 28.5
We have the game of the week in the 4 PM slot when the Bills take on the Chiefs. These matchups have must watch football in the recent years. Today will be a rematch of the AFC Championship game where the Chiefs won 32-29. Entering today’s game, Patrick Mahomes has been averaging 35 rush yards per game. He carries the ball on average 5.8 times per game. The Chiefs will be without their lead rusher, Isiah Pacheco today. So not only will Kareem Hunt and Brashard Smith need to step up but Mahomes will need to add his legs to the mix. The Bills are the 2nd worst rush defense in the league, allowing 150 yards per game. I would expect Mahomes to use his legs to beat this defense, especially if the game is close. Mahomes likes to tuck and run when the game is on the line to extend drives. I would expect him to have a few runs against the Bills’ poor run defense.
Best Bet Background – A.J Barner Receiving Yards over 27.5
We head to primetime where the Seahawks are facing off against the Commanders. Seattle comes into this game averaging 244 pass yards per game, which is 8th in the NFL. The primary target for this team has been Jaxon Smith-Njigba. JSN has been a fixture of our best bets but today, I am rolling with Seattle’s tight end, AJ Barner. Barner is the third most targeted receiver in this offense behind JSN and Cooper Kupp. Kupp will be out with injury so Barner will be the next logical guy to fill his targets. The Commanders are the 26th ranked pass defense in the league, allowing 244 yards per game. They are particularly vulnerable to tight ends. They allowed Travis Kelce to go for 99 yards just last week. AJ Barner has gone over this line in 3 of his last 4 games. With this matchup in his favor and the targets from Kupp potentially going to him, I would expect Barner to gain over 27 yards tonight.
Jamie’s Pick of The Week
Jamie’s picks have cooled off as he has stacked 2 losses in a row. He is 6-2 in his picks. Today, he will be picking the winner of the Bills – Chiefs game. 57% of the public bets are being placed on the Chiefs. Let’s see if Jamie can get back to his winning ways!
