Week 16 got off to a bang with an instant classic on Thursday Night Football. The Seahawks pulled off a miraculous 16-point comeback to beat the Rams in OT. More importantly for us, our Best Bet cashed with room to spare. Today, we get some bonus football with a couple of Saturday games being played. Starting with a 5 PM ET kickoff, the Commanders will be hosting the Eagles in a classic NFC East matchup. Later, the Bears are hosting the Packers in an important NFC North matchup. That game will kick off at 8:20 PM ET. Then I have gone through the available bets for both games and picked the ones that I think should be a lock. Let’s make some money!

Best Bets
  • Marcus Mariota Rush Yards over 28.5
  • D’Andre Swift Rush Yards over 54.5
Best Bet Background – Marcus Mariota Rush Yards over 28.5

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Eagles are traveling to Maryland to take on the Commanders. Marcus Mariota will be starting at quarterback for the Commies for the rest of the season. In the games that he has started this year, he has played fairly well despite the poor record of the team. A key part of his game has been running the ball. In 7 starts, he is averaging 36.7 run yards per game. He is playing an Eagles defense that is ranked 22nd against the run. They are allowing 125 yards per game on the ground. Using the other run threats in this Washington offense should allow Mariota to pull the ball on RPOs and he should be able to gain yards fairly easily.

Based on recent history, the Eagles should have the edge in this game. They have won 4 of the last 5 matchups against the Commanders. Washington has one of the worst defenses in the league, so expect the Commanders to be playing from behind. That will just open the door for scrambles by Mariota.

Best Bet Background – D’Andre Swift Rush Yards over 54.5

The second game of the doubleheader features the Bears and the Packers. This will be a rematch of the game that they played on 12/7 when the Packers won 28-21 in dramatic fashion. That game came down to the last drive and Caleb Williams threw a pick in the endzone to end the game. Today, the Bears are going to be wanting some revenge and keep their magical season going. They have been relying heavily on their running backs to set the tone for their offense. D’Andre Swift has been the workhorse for this team, and he is the lead rusher. He has a great running mate in Kyle Monangai but there is no doubt that Swift is the number 1. He did pop up on the injury report earlier this week, but he should be good to go. ( If not, I would definitely place money on Monangai’s over). If healthy, he should have a heavy workload once again.

Swift is averaging 71.9 yards per game this year. The Packers have been solid against the run as they are ranked 8th in the league. Swift managed 64 yards against them in the Dec. 7th game, so he has already shown to be capable of hitting this mark. Additionally, this will be the first game that the Packers will be without Micah Parsons, which leaves a huge hole in this defense. I believe that Swift should be able to grind out 55 yards against this injured Packers defense in a slugfest type of game.
