Week 14 started off with one of the best games that we are going to see this week. Unfortunately, our Best Bet missed as Jahmyr Gibbs was unable to continue his incredibly consistent streak. That’s okay, we have a full slate of ball today to bounce back. The matchups today do not look that great but sometimes that makes for some exciting football. I have gone through the slate and picked 4 Best Bets for the day and provided some background on each. Let’s make some money!
First things first, the Best Bets:
Best Bets
- Alvin Kamara Rush Yards over 82.5 (-110) FanDuel
- Jakobi Meyers Receiving Yards over 64.5 (-110) FanDuel
- James Cook Rush Yards over 61.5 (-110) FanDuel
- Noah Gray Receiving Yards over 25.5 (-106) FanDuel
Best Bet Background- Alvin Kamara Rush Yards over 82.5
Alvin Kamara is not what he once was, but he still has plenty of fuel left in the tank. He is averaging 74.5 yards per game this year. Despite that being under his line for today, this is potentially the best possible matchup in the slate of games today. He faces a decimated Giants defense. The Giants have struggled to defend against the run and more specifically, against teams that actually run the ball. They are allowing 145 yards per game on the ground, which is 29th in the league. Last week, they lost their best player in Dexter Lawrence. His absence is going to be felt today in both the run and the pass game. Add in the fact that the defensive backs for the Giants do not tackle well and the team as a whole, is on the brink of giving up, I believe that Kamara is in line for a huge game today.
Best Bet Background – Jakobi Meyers Receiving Yards over 64.5
Ever since the Davante Adams trade, Meyers has become the clear number 1 receiver for this Raiders offense. He is averaging 87.75 yards per game in the last four games. He has been doing it with multiple quarterbacks as well. He has seen passes from Gardner Minshew, Desmond Ridder, and Aiden O’Connell. He just keeps producing. He faces a Tampa Bay defense that is allowing 258 pass yards per game, which is 30th in the NFL. There is a good chance that the Raiders will be playing from behind against this team and will have to rely on their pass game to keep it competitive. Additionally, the Raiders do not run the ball well at all. In fact, they are the worst rushing offense in the league this year. Look for the Raiders to rely heavily on Jakobi Meyers and Brock Bowers to attack this weak Tampa Bay pass defense.
Best Bet Background – James Cook Rush Yards over 61.5
James Cook has seen a bigger role this year in terms of his usage in this Bills offense. They seem to use him more effectively whenever the matchup calls for running the ball. Today, the matchup is screaming for the Bills to run the ball. They face the LA Rams, who are allowing 144 rush yards per game, which is 28th in the league. While Cook has only been averaging 63.9 yards per game, he should see plenty of opportunities for big gains against this porous Rams run defense. This is the unit that allowed 255 yards to Saquon Barkley. This is the unit that allowed over 200 yards rushing to the Cardinals. This pick is based on the matchup and the Bills should Let James Cook all day here.
Best Bet Background -Noah Gray Receiving Yards over 25.5
While we have cashed two bets in the past two weeks on Travis Kelce, another tight end keeps popping up on RedZone and the box score. Noah Gray is quietly having a very productive stretch of games. For 3 weeks straight, he has recorded at least 4 receptions. He has become a safety option for Patrick Mahomes. Tonight, the Chiefs are facing their division rival in the Chargers. The last time that these teams played, Gray recorded 4 receptions for 40 yards. The Chargers do not let up a ton of pass yards as a whole, only allowing an average of 206 per game, but there should be enough of an opportunity for Gray to carve out 26 yards tonight. The Chargers defense will be focused on taking away the run and slowing down Travis Kelce, so Mahomes may have to look elsewhere. I expect him to look for Gray and for Gray to be able to gain over 26 yards.
