After an exciting Hall of Fame game, preseason began for real last night. While most of the players last night will most likely not play significant time this year, it was still great to pop on a few of the games and track the scores. Below are the final scores of each of the games as well as the schedule for the rest of Preseason Week 1’s games. Then we catch up on all the extensions, injuries, QB battles, and a short Hard Knocks recap.

2. QB Battles

  • Kyler Murray vs. JJ McCarthy

The QB battle of the offseason is settled. This was probably the easiest one to predict. Kyler Murray was announced as the starter for the Minnesota Vikings.

  • Shedeur Sanders vs. Deshaun Watson

Not a lot of progress was made in this battle. The Browns play on Saturday, and it is anticipated that both Shedeur and Deshaun will get snaps. Head coach Todd Monken announced that Deshaun will get the start and Shedeur will take over for him at some point.

3. Injuries

Unfortunately, this it’s the time of year that the injuries begin to stack up. Here’s a quick rundown of the more severe injury situations so far:

  • Luther Burden (Bears) – Groin injury – expected to miss preseason
  • Coby Byrant (Bears) – Knee – Expected to miss 4-6 months
  • Laremy Tunsil (Commanders) – Triceps – Expected to miss significant time
  • Dillon Radunz (Saints) – Knee – Expected to miss season
  • Cade Mays (Lions) – Wrist – Expected to miss significant time

4. More Money

After we posted last Friday, there were some more extensions granted and some significant players signed:

  • G O’Cyrus Torrence (Bills) – 4-year extension, $78.4 million, $46 million guaranteed
  • G Peter Skoronski (Titans) – 4-year extension, $100 million, $88 million guaranteed
  • TE Hunter Henry (Patriots) – 2-year extension, $16 million, $14.5 million guaranteed
  • DL Quinnen Williams (Cowboys) – 3-year extension, $105.9 million, $101 million guaranteed

5. Hard Knocks

This week on Hard Knocks featured some more behind the scenes of the Seattle Seahawks training camp. Just two thoughts on the episode:

1.The public saw a much fierier side of Mike McDonald this week when Derrick Hall got too close to Sam Darnold. Loved seeing this side of coach. Hall was a heavy feature in this episode. He got to show off his custom-made truck and took the film crew on a coffee run. He was able to show off his ig personality. Coach McDonald, who has a quiet disposition, showed just how he keeps his players in check

2. Sam Darnold can flat out spin a ball. The montage of his throws, punctuated with a long slow-mo shot of his throw (at3:20), is Hard Knocks at its peak:

As a reminder, we published two more season previews this week. We went through all of Make sure to check them out here: https://blackdogbets.com/category/season-preview/2026-previews/
