It’s Week 5 in the NFL and we have another early start to a Sunday. The games today begin in London at 9:30 between the Vikings and Browns. We had a tough beat on Thursday with Kyren Williams falling 3 yards short. We are starting 0-1 but we have plenty of time to turn it around today. I have gone through todays slate and provided 5 Best Bets for today. I had Jamie pick the winner of the Dolphins – Panthers game, as that the closest to a toss-up that we have today. Let’s make some money!
First things first, the Best Bets:
Best Bets
- Zavier Scott Recieving Yards over 8.5
- Daniel Jones Pass Yards over 231.5
- Woody Marks Rush + Rec Yards over 75.5
- Jahmyr Gibbs Rush Yards over 72.5
- Khalil Shakir Receiving Yards over 43.5
Best Bet Background- Zavier Scott Recieving Yards over 8.5
The Vikings and Browns get today’s slate started off early in London. The first game kicks off at 9:30 ET. The Vikings are favored by 3.5 points and are starting Carson Wentz at quarterback for the third week. They face a Browns defense that is going to be tough to move the ball on. The Browns are the 4th ranked pass defense, and the 1st ranked rush offense. They have a defensive line that will cause a lot of issues for any offensive line. The Vikings have an offensive line that is full of injuries and backups. So, they will need to find a way to get the ball out of Wentz’s hands as quickly as possible. Running backs are usually an easy option to lean on for this game plan. Last week, he relied on Zavier Scott in the pass game. Scott had 6 receptions on 8 targets for 46 yards and 1 TD. He had a 20-yard catch in Week 3. He has been filling in for Aaron Jones who is out with injury. With the pass rush of this defense, I would imagine that Scott should be given another heavy workload in the pass game today.
Best Bet Background – Daniel Jones Pass Yards over 231.5
Daniel Jones has been on a mission this year. The pairing of Jones and Shane Steichen’s offense has seemingly been a match made in heaven. This combination has the Colts off to a 3-1 start. Jones is averaging 269.5 yards per game. He has gone over the 232-yard mark in 3 out of 4 games. today, they face a Raiders defense that is the 23rd ranked pass defense, allowing an average of 228 yards per game. The cause for concern for the Colts will be the defensive line of the Raiders. They gave Caleb Williams fits last week. Daniel Jones has not played against the Raiders since they injured him a few years back. I would imagine that he will continue his season of success against a weak defense.
Best Bet Background – Woody Marks Rush + Rec Yds over 75.5
Woody Marks has emerged as RB1 for the Texans. He got his first full start last week against the Titans. He has shown to have an explosive ability and is used in the pass game as well. He had 17 carries for 69 yards as well as 4 receptions for 50 yards last week. This week, the Texans face a banged-up Ravens defense. The Ravens are the 2nd worst pass defense in the league, allowing an average of 265 yards per game. They are also struggling with the run game, allowing 141 yards per game. That ranks them at 27th in the league. Marks has the opportunity to have a big game against a bad defense today.
Best Bet Background – Jahmyr Gibbs Rush Yard over 72.5
Gibbs has taken over the starting running back role for the Lions. He still splits carries with David Montgomery but it is clear by the carries that Gibbs is number 1. On the season, Gibbs has 58 carries while Monty has 43. Today, they are facing a Bengals defense that is allowing 135 yards per game. The Bengals as a whole are struggling. Their offense, without Joe Burrow, is anemic. The Lions are more than likely going to be winning this game. So, I would expect them to run the ball throughout the day. Gibbs has the ability to break a 70-yard run at anytime, so I would imagine that he will have a big day in the box score today.
Best Bet Background – Khalil Shakir Receiving Yards over 43.5
The primetime game will be an AFC East matchup between the Bills and Patriots. The Patriots are the 26th ranked passing defense, allowing 241 yards per game. The Bills are averaging 240 pass yards per game, which is 6th in the NFL. the matchup favors the Bills passing the ball. The lead target for the Bills has been Khalil Shakir. Shakir is averaging 47.5 yards per game. He has gone over todays line of 43.5 yards in 3/4 games played this year. I would expect him to have a productive fay against a struggling Pats defense. There is potential that this game is tighter than people expect, so the Bills passing game should not be out of the question.
Jamie’s Pick of The Week
Jamie is on a hot streak so far this year. He is 4-0 in his picks. Today, he will be picking the winner of the Dolphins – Panthers game. 59% of the public bets are being placed on the Dolphins. Let’s see if Jamie can keep his streak going!
