Week 16 started off with a Thursday night game where our Best Bet cashed and two Friday games where we whiffed on both. We are back at it today to put some tallies in the win column. I have gone through the slate and picked 4 Best Bets for the day and provided some background on each. Let’s make some money!

First things first, the Best Bets:

Best Bets

  • Trey Mcbride Receiving Yards Over 68.5 (-110) Fanduel
  • Puka Nacua Receiving Yards Over 87.5 (-110) Fanduel
  • Jaxson Smith-Njigba Receiving Yards Over 63.5 (-110) Fanduel
  • Baker Mayfield Rushing Yards Over 14.5 (-113) Fanduel
Best Bet Background- Trey Mcbride Receiving Yards Over 68.5

Trey McBride has been having a fantastic season. He is leading the Cardinals in receiving yards with 938 yards. That puts him at an average of 72.2 yards per game. He has yet to find the endzone however which makes him for an interesting anytime TD bet for today. Kyler Murray has come out in support of getting him that elusive touchdown. However, as it relates to yards gained, I think we can expect McBride to continue his dominance today against the Carolina Panthers. They have the 12th ranked pass defense but they are vulnerable to give up big days to tight ends. McBride should be the focal point of this pass offense today. I would also look at James Connor to have a big day, as Carolinas rush defense is the worst in the league. I believe that his over is too high to take. Look for this Arizona run game to open up their play action and benefit Trey McBride.

Best Bet Background – Puka Nacua Receiving Yards Over 87.5

Nacua and the LA Rams are traveling to New Jersey to take on the Jets. The Jets have been struggling on defense, despite having the 5th ranked pass defense in the league. They allowed the Jaguars (Mac Jones) to pass for almost 300 yards. They allowed 107 receiving yards to Brian Thomas Jr. This week, the 9th ranked pass offense should present a much bigger challenge. Puka Nacua has been playing great ever since coming back from injury. He has hit this yards total in 5 out of his last 6 games. I would expect this Rams offense to have a big day against the struggling Jets. Nacua might draw number 1 coverage but Sauce Gardner has not been having a good season covering wide outs. Nacua should be able to carve out over 88 yards today.

Best Bet Background – Jaxson Smith-Njigba Receiving Yards Over 63.5

JSN is back as one of our best bets with a lower yard total than last week. Geno Smith left last week’s contest but is suiting up for the game against the Vikings. The Vikings who have one of the best scoring defenses in the league (8th) are ranked 29th in passing yards allowed. The Seahawks are the leagues 5th best passing offense. They might be trailing during this game as well so I would expect Seattle to have to throw in order to stay in the game. JSN will continue to play a big role in this offense. He has gained over this yard total in the last 7 games. He has been incredibly consistent and has the matchup today to continue his great season.

Best Bet Background – Baker Mayfield Rushing Yards Over 14.5

Baker Mayfield has put the Tampa Bay Bucs in the playoff race. Despite several games without his top two targets in Chris Godwin and Mike Evans, Baker has continued to fight. He has always been a scrappy player and he will need that mentality as he heads back to his home state to take on the Cowboys. One added part of Bakers game this year, has been the run yards. He has been much more willing to take off to get first downs. This tends to happen when he is flushed out of the pocket by the pass rush. Tonight, he faces the Dallas defense which can get after the quarterback. With Michah Parsons coming from multiple spots, I can see Baker having to extend plays and just take off running. He has shown the ability to have big games on the ground. Tonight, with his team in the playoff hunt, should be no exception.
