Lions at Bills

Week 2 kicks off tonight with a great matchup between the Lions and Bills. Both teams are 1-0 and are coming off of crazy games in Week 1. The Bills won a shoutout against the Texans and the Lions survived a comeback from the Saints that was determined in overtime. Tonight, the Bills will be opening their new stadium so expect the energy to be at an all time high. It should be an exciting game and I have picked what I believe to be the Best Bet for the matchup. Let’s win some money!

The Public Numbers

The Bills come into this game as 5.5 point favorites with the total set at 54.5 points. The public is heavily favoring the Bills to win outright with 91% of the bets and 82% of the money being placed on the Bills to win outright. Meanwhile, 64% of the bets and the money are being placed on the Bills to cover. The point total appears to be too high for the general public with 87% of the bets and 58% of the money being placed on the under.

Match-up Overview

These teams have faced each other 13 times previously. The Bills lead the all-time series 8-4-1. The most recent game was December 15th, 2024 where the Bills won 48-42.

The Lions come into this game after narrowly winning against the Saints in Week 1. They won 31-30 in overtime after surviving a furious comeback. The offense for the Lions shined in the season opener and racked up 396 total yards. QB Jared Goff threw for 206 yards and 2 TDs. The leading receiver for the Lions was Amon-Ra St. Brown who had 10 catches for 67 yards and 2 TDs. The biggest production was the run game led by Jahmyr Gibbs. Gibbs ran for 156 yards and 2 TDs. Gibbs against the Bills defense will be the key matchup to watch.

The Lions defense is going to be a cause of concern. They are incredibly thin in the secondary. This showed up last week when they allowed the Saints to throw for 378 yards in their comeback effort. They were more solid against the run, allowing just 91 yards but that could also be a product of the Saints abandoning the run in order to make their comeback.

The Bills offense appears to be clicking on all cylinders out of the gates. They beat up a very good Houston defense last week on the way to a 36-31 victory. Josh Allen showed that he is still capable of playing at an MVP level with his stat line of 334 pass yards and 2 TDs. He also ran for 23 yards and 2 TDs. His leading receiver was tight end, Dalton Kincaid who had 5 catches for 130 yards. He also got his new weapon, D.J Moore, involved in some big plays. Moore had 5 catches for 100 yards and a TD. These will be the guys to watch tonight against a weak Detroit secondary. The tun game will be led by James Cook who had a relatively quiet game last week with just 57 yards.

The Bills allowed the Texans to move the ball fairly well against them last week. They allowed 257 pass yards and 124 rush yards. They are facing a high powered offense that can score at will once they get rolling. They have a particularly tough matchup with RB Jahmyr Gibbs poised to have another huge performance.

Best Bet Background:D.J Moore Receiving Yards over 61.5

This is going to be a high scoring game tonight. Both teams have the capabilities to score while not necessarily having the abilities to stop the other team from scoring. I am expecting a ton of offense and the matchup that I will be paying attention to will be D.J Moore against this depleted Lions secondary. This secondary just gave up 182 yards to Chris Olave last week and he was pretty much the only offensive threat the Saints had. The Bills have a lot of options on offense and will be able to move the ball but I would expect D.J Moore to have another great game tonight.
