Dolphins @ Rams

The 2-6 Dolphins are traveling to Los Angeles to take on the 4-4 Rams. These teams are trending in opposite directions. Miami’s season got derailed by the Tua Tagovailoa concussion in week 2. Tua is back and the Dolphins offense has looked better, but they have yet to put it all together in order to win games. On the other side of the field, the Rams started off slow with a 1-4 record. They are currently on a 3-game win streak where they have finally started to look like the Rams that everyone expected in the preseason. The main reason for this resurgence has been the return of their two-star receivers, Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. There is some history between this team with the Dolphins having the upper hand in the all-time record. Miami is 12-2 against the Rams. The last 5 have all been won by Miami. The most recent was in 2020 where Miami won 28-17.

The Miami offense, despite their reputation of being explosive, has been struggling to score points. They are averaging 15.5 points per game, which is the 2nd lowest in the league. Since Tua missed several games, their pass offense was unable to move the ball at all. This is reflected in the stats as they rank 24th in the league by averaging 191 pass yards per game. However, they have been able to lean on their stable of running backs and are averaging 133 run yards per game. That ranks them 9th in the league. With Tua being back, the offense has been unlocked. However, tonight, Tyreek Hill is questionable to play so I would imagine that they will continue to lean on their running backs to move the ball. They face a Rams defense that lets up plenty of yards.

The Miami defense will have their hands full with a resurgent Rams offense. The Dolphins have a decent defense and on paper, do enough to keep the team in the game. They rank 17th in points allowed, allowing 23.4 points per game. Teams struggle to pass against them as they are allowing 183 yards per game. This ranks 4th in the league. The rush defense is stingy as well. They are allowing 120 yards per game which is 13th in the league. They face a Rams offense that has no shortage of weapons and persistence. This matchup would typically favor the Dolphins but it is hard to bet against the Rams.

The Rams offense struggled without Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp. However, they came back into the fold against the Vikings and lit up the box score. On the season as a whole, the Rams are averaging 21.3 points per game which is 21st in the NFL. Over the last 3 games, they are averaging 25.3 games. With Matthew Stafford and quarterback, the pass offense never really struggles. They are averaging 231 yards per game which is 9th in the league. On the ground, they are averaging 97 yards per game which is 26th in the league.

The Rams defense has been a sore spot for this team. They are 22nd in points allowed by allowing 24.3 points per game. Teas have been able to move the ball fairly easily against this team They rank 23rd against the pass, allowing 225 pass yards per game. On the ground, they are allowing 135 yards per game, which is 24th in the league. The Dolphins have the opportunity to finally put together a big game against a defense that struggles to stop anything.

Best Bet Background – De’Von Achane Rec Yards o42.5

De’Von Achane is a huge weapon for this Miami offense. They use him in both the run and pass game. In the 4 games that he has played with Tua, Achane is averaging 70 rush yards per game and 63.25 receiving yards per game. I think that the Rams will be leading during this game so the Dolphins will have to continue to pass the ball. With Tyreek Hill possibly missing tonight, look to Achane to play a huge part in the pass game. They love to get him out in space and let that homerun speed of his take over.
